Wheaterville readers express their opinions.
Remember, we're just a glorified blog.

Over the back fence
Okay, folks. Admit it, reader comments are the both the best and the worst part of Wheaterville. Kinda like Thanksgiving dinner with your extended family. Management still hasn't quite figured out how to handle this part of the job. Bear with us if you please - and let us know what you think. If you can't stand the chaos, check back in a few weeks. Maybe things will be settled down by then... or maybe not...

On Target Guns:
I was born in New Orleans and grew up in the New Orleans Metro Area all my life. Years ago my father bought property just outside Wheatland so he could head that way for retirement. He has been waiting on my siblings and I to relocate there too. My dad says that he loves when he travels to Wyoming to explore his land there. He tells us how much he likes the town of Wheatland and the people he meets there. Because of what is happening in the country these days I am thinking about heading out to the Wheatland area with my wife and kids. We own a gun business here and are thinking of relocating it there in the Wheatland area. My young daughter would like to live somewhere where it snows and she would love to have horses to ride. Being that I worked in law enforcement I know that all towns have problems, but where we live now has it on a much larger scale....and it's a fatherly desire and instinct that I have to move my family to a safer area. We are still researching, but the best thing thing is that I have family living near Wheatland and they are giving me firsthand info that we need.

why:
Why does wheaterville keep allowing people to air their personal problems on here? I seen that you erased the previous rants.. but are allowing this " disgusted" person to start it all up again. I guess we know what side if the "fence" you're on.

Disgusted with idiots:
All who are backing up my brother...props to you. Those of you who can't accept the fact that your children are definite p.o.S, get over yourselves and take care of your kids. Perhaps they could put the rocks down and get a job? Instead of selling illegal drugs around town to the kids in school? I know it probably sounds like a strange concept because as EVERYONE is aware: your kids end up how YOU raised them so think about that before trying to blame anyone else for what YOU did. Thanks and have a splendid day!

for stepping up to the plate, voting yes to helping your elderly citizens and their families. Those of you who voted "no", well, hopefully better people than you will be around making decisions like this when you need them. Think about it.

I think I would take it  to the new superintendant. The last one used your money to fill his and his school buddies pockets. Be careful who you talk to first, some of the school board members are still Stu lovers.

CARL PRICE JR.:
School bus drivers are treated very low in community. A service that is provide free of charge to each and every child of school going age. But it seems that the school board or the community wishes to acknowlege the fact that school bus drivers are up every morning 5 days a week to SAFELY TRANSPORT YOUR CHILDREN TO AND FROM SCHOOL in all weather. snow and ice  We as school bus drivers hold a commercial class drivers license with the proper training according to department of motor vehicles standards. along with a medical card. Stating in which that each and every School bus driver meets all SAFETY REQUIRMENTS to drive/operate a school bus in the STATE OF WYOMING...   IF THE SCHOOL BOARD OR ANYONE ELSE THINKS  he or she can perform this task, dealing with disruptive students whlie in adverse weather conditions. THEN expect to under-pay. according to the standard pay scale of bus drivers platte county school district #1 is and always be the lowest in the state of wyoming.

no water for 3 days they said! restricted water they said! no fireworks they said!

schools watered five times a day
city officials watering lawns
fireworks still being sold in Glendo

the mentality of Wheatland's management matches the ignorance of many of its residents, it would appear.

Fail fail fail lols

i agree, with have new police cars, but can't keep the trash trucks working, even though we pay our bill whether or not they run. no water for 3 days, and please do not waste water by watering the streets, but i see the high school doing this all the time. it seems only the little local people have to obey the rules! i love living here, but our town govt is getting as bad as washington!!

I meant we need to complicate our offense... defense should never be complicated.. also we need a consistent quarterback who can time correctly with the receiver, pocket pass and run if necessary.

Bulldog power:
It is time for the community of Wheatland and Wheatland High School to lift it's football program and gain some momentum going into the upcoming seasn.

First, the school needs to advertise games and gain some media coverage, and charge ticket sales in order to raise funds to construct a newer stadium instead of relying on boosters.  Second, a cocaching staff needs to be located that can strenghten these hungry young men to an ability of raw excellence, strengh and conditioning to be true Prep contenders.  A plan needs to be implemented that constitues max strength and 100% effort while ensuring proper rest and a sufficient diet (the school needs to provide real meals to the football players vs. soggy salad bar).  Game day preparations need to be made just as they do in Douglas (who has appeared in multiple state championships and won most of them).

As a community, we need to tap our resources and recruit an athletic receiving corps that can put points on the board and encourage block on the line.. hence powerful development of the chest and quads/hams through rigourous bench and squat routines.  We need to establish the run and complicate our defense to throw off the already mediocre linebackers and slow secondaries in 2A competition.  Finally, we need a defense that is well coached enough to read the run or the pass and be able to get more three and outs.

If we can wean our current Bulldog talent and drive them to their full potential, and get some recruits in and some rigorous, strategic coaching in place, Wheatland will be a football powerhouse and benefit the School and the Town.

thirsty:
props to the town of Wheatland for mismanaging our water and letting the wells go dry when experts have been predicitng this drought for months!  while the city waters the school lawns, cemetary, baseball/football fields, parks five times a day and imposed a water restriction on the taxpaying/billpaying citizens, the grass is sure green at the schools (too bad no one's there to look at it since it's.. summer?)

Salley:
This might get me in trouble, but I don't care. Wheatland has a serious problem. Our DFS is one of the most corrupt in the state. Don't believe me? Ask around. I lost my kids to them, and they never even conducted an investigation. My neighbor was calling EVERYONE in our apartment complex in who had children for abuse and DFS didn't stop to think maybe she was making it up? What are the odds that everyone in the whole building was abusing their children? But DFS didn't care to look into it. They just came and took them from us without even trying to find out if they really needed to. We told them we would cooperate, let them into our home, let them strip down our kids to their diapers to look for bruises or marks of any kind. They never found any, but they still took them. I know we aren't the first people this has happened to and it needs to stop! Why should these children be uprooted from their parents if they don't HAVE to be? The system here needs to be fought , but I can't do it alone. Please, if DFS has EVER done anything to you that you feel caused harm to you or your family, was a violation of your rights, or anything that they shouldn't have done email it to salleyrose@gmail.com . You don't have to send your name unless you want people to know who you are, I won't care. But be warned, when I have enough statements to turn into the main offices in Cheyenne, the State Senators, and the Governor, I will. And if you still don't believe me when I say this happens read this article http://www.religioustolerance.org/cps_vict.htm Wheatland isn't the only place it happens, but it's bad enough here it needs to change. Please help me do something about this. I don't want what has happened to my children and my family to happen to anyone else.

walking around wheaterville:
you see the darndest things. If it ain't someone picking on pigs it's someone in charge of the town who apparently has a way big problem with women.

http://www.dancewyoming.com/blog2/index.php

Hey is this the guy that's running the Platte Chamber of Commerce, the guy from the Dance School?

From his blog:
Paul continues to give us a picture of what the last day apostates will be like. The way they lead people astray is reminiscent of Genesis 3 and the serpent who deceived Eve. What they do is befriend a family and once they are allowed to preach their vile within the home the women become the most susceptible to their message.

Confused:
Who do all of you think you are?  You are all human beings with flaws....not a single person in this town, is God like or perfect.  You think your better than everyone else, but your not...you stick your nose in the air at others, and talk about people when they are at their lowest, and put them down.  Did you ever think, maybe you could help them, or look in the mirror at yourself?  Instead of feeling sorry for people in their troubles, you spread it all over town, and laugh about it.  There is not a single one of you, that doesn't have skeletons in your closet...we all have things, we are not so proud of.  Your self-righteousness, is disgusting.  People who you thought were your friends, turn out to be your worst enemy.  You fight with your neighbors, thinking you will never need their help.  There will come a time when you will, and it will be too bad.  I always look at things differently...i feel bad for people in bad times, and wish only good for everyone.  No matter what they have done, or what troubles have befallen them.

stuporintendent:
When you're the superintendent of the school district, you know you're in the spotlight, and you SHOULD care what the taxpayers think about you and the job you're doing. You should NOT get Four DUIs. Wheatland and Platte are too small to get away with that kind of thing and not expect scrutiny, and with it, some bad press. He's getting out while the getting is good and good riddance. Pointing out the DUIs, multiple, is not "nit-picking".

Passing In By:
I was very saddened by most of these comments about Wheatland. I love Wheatland and all the people.. Yes like all towns we have had our share of troubles, but nothing like what some of you have went on about. The good out weighs all the bad by FAR! And those that come on here to type all that trash, they are those who are trapped in their own ugly world and unable to look outside that. Its sad knowing they are sitting there alone..
But Wheatland is a beautiful town and truly a wonderful place to raise a family :)

Ogive mea home:

Where the deer and the antelope play. Doesn't that sound gooood! Not only for the people that hunt and put food on their table, but for ex-country farm/ex-city life, now back to country/farm/fishin and takin it easy person like me. Finding the spot to lay ground from now till I die was a two year venture. Findind the State of Wyoming is a gem. From can't take your eyes off sunrises to head turning don't leave yet sunsets. Wheatland was the place to settle this rundown, broken up, endlessly tired body and mind. Many residents I met in my path were neighborly and accepted my heartfelt handshake. Hearing the echo of cheering coming from the local highschool. Knee deep in the North Platte River with a six pound rainbow tugging on my four pound line! God's Country.....pristine,clear,wild horses, smell of sage.....oh how we forget what we had, but thank goodness we have the resources to come back. I feel good being here, it's right. It's where I should be and the gracious people of Wheatland helped me decide. Go ahead and leave this All-American/We take pride in our State of Wyoming for whatever your reasons are....but you'll remember and eventually wish for the simpler times and watercolor memories of this small town, names of friends and neighbors and the smell of home cooked meals and prairie sage.
