We live here - and we like it.

We live here - and we like it.

Okay, folks. Admit it, reader comments are the both the best and the worst part of Wheaterville. Kinda like Thanksgiving dinner with your extended family. Management still hasn't quite figured out how to handle this part of the job. Bear with us if you please - and let us know what you think. If you can't stand the chaos, check back in a few weeks. Maybe things will be settled down by then... or maybe not...

waiting for jury trial:
I hope to motocross group takes this all the way through a jury trial and let the community see these complainers for what they are.... a bunch of liars and cry-babies.

Oliver Douglas:
I'm not really up to speed on this motocross track.
However I can't see how the operation of this track a couple of days a week could have such a negative impact on someone's life that they would sue to stop the area youth from particapating in an activitie such as this.
It seems to me a few people around town need to realize that Wheatland does not revolve around them and there are other people living here who should a say in what happens here also.  This is my 2 cents.

Motocross :
I also live in town and don't ride motocross but I agree that this track was awesome.  My kids and I went and watched and had a ball.  I think if the land can't be used by the motorcross then the city should put something else on that land.  I am thinking a rock crusher, horse slaughter plant or something good for the city.  The people who sued are a bunch of whiners.  Just a somewhat shallow way of looking at it but something should be done with the land none the less.

Wheatland:
I was dissapointed to read about the motorcross being shut down.  I live in town, don't ride motorcyles, but I thought this track was a good thing.  I didn't know at first but we drove out there during the race and it wasn't very loud at all.  The motorcross people have done a great job keeping it up.  I think the people who sued them should be ashamed.   We all have to listen to noises weather it is the trucks on the highway or the ball fields in the summer.  It is part of life.  I hope to motorcross can find a way to keep it going.

Get Real:
Eric Alden took the county to the cleaners when he sued them over the stench he had to smell when he lived north of the city sewer lagoons. They should have run him out of town and told him never to come back. Ask your city mayor what is going on with that house they had to buy from him. I would like to know why our money is just sitting there deteriorating and weeds growing up around it.

Big Man:
Eric Jones got the job because he was better then Eikenberry. We never should of driven Eric Alden out in the first place. As for this batch of commishioners, they have no spine on the motorcross and now they want to control the senior citizens. When it came to having a spine about the nursing home they didn't have one there either but suddenly they know what is best. Vote em all out and start over.

MPLA67:
You must be new around these parts Milo. Eric Jones works part time for full time salary and has the county thinking they are getting a great deal. His conflict of interest problems get bought away by the taxpayers money who foot the bill to hire other lawyers to do his work for him. Sharing a office with dad is the least of his scams he has going, even though his dad doesn't even have a law license anymore because he was disbarred for ethics violations. But Platte will vote him in again. And probably again again.

Milo:
Having a County Attorney, full or part time, that does not have a shared office with his Dad would be a very good idea. That would eliminate all conflict of interest issues due to running a private practice and being a prosecuter in his spare time.

Just wondering:
Did anyone go to the parade, Saturday?  I was impressed with Ken Johnston running for County Attorney.  He would be full time, instead of the part time attorney.   We wouldn't have to pay for extra part time attorneys.  He has walked Guernsey, Chugwater, Hartville and Wheatland, introducing himself and talking to people about their concerns.
Consider Ken Johnston for Platte Co. attorney.

I agree with you WANI, and the point i'm trying to make is to quit bickering about the 1% tax and the firehall and look at the bigger picture.  if you want to complain, find something that is actually affecting this community.. no Wheatland is certainly not the only place to have problems but really get off your high horses quit saying it's a perfect beautiful town and stop griping about relatively inconsequential issues as the demolition of the firehall.  there is way too much child abuse, rape offenses, drug use, etc. in a town of this size.  I know this for a fact and don't even start to say i'm full of it i know this for a FACT.  i know i'm going to get railed for this comment but really, we should get off the internet and start doing something.  no, Wheatland is nothing like some other places, but in a town this small there's a lot of broken dreams and ruined lives.  my choice will be to leave.  too much ignorance here.

What a novel idea:
Also trout, we could solve the illegal immigration problem overnight if people throughout the country would just stop using illegal drugs. So two problems are solved.

If the "people" of Wheatland would quit using cannabis products (joints, etc) there would be less risk for fire and the downsizing of the fire station wouldn't be as big of a problem.

oh, and having a law enforcement that actually enforces the law could bust the methamphetamine makers thus reducing the risk of electrical shortage and fire.

and maybe if the health inspection services did their job many of the restaurants in Wheatland wouldn't be allowed to operate with a kitchen that has a half an inch of grease coated to the floor and wall and cookware; this would also reduce the risk of fire.

hmmmm.

Wow, Really have you checked on the firehall today?  I think the demolition derby cars made an unexpected visit!

Really:
Yes the fire department is paying for the second floor with donated money, and yes the city is not helping pay for the floor. No one one said anything about a Bar so dont start that up. And the money for the second floor is just for the floor not finish it, hopefully later down the road it could be finished.

The Firehall is being torn down as we type.  The project is in motion now.  Yes it took a long time to get going, but at least all aspects were looked at is my opinion.  This is tax money and it should be scrutinized by the powers that be.

I think the Fire Department has gotten plenty of support by the public with a new building.  Look at the Police Department for instance......That building they are in is tiny and you dont hear them complaining and wanting more and more all the time.  The Fire Department needs to take a backseat after this hall is built.

Really:
Show me where its stated the fire dept is wanting to put a bar in. Is that also in the council meeting minutes? Its just amazing how unsupportive alot of Wheatland people are for thier fire dept.!
This new fire hall issue has been hashed around for just too long now!. The sales tax election past, how long ago? Now get the hall built so the county can get onto new things. That sales tax election worked out great for the rest of the Platte county towns. Its time for the people of Wheatland that are bad mouthing this project to get an attitude adjustment! Like a swift kick somewhere!

Really:
Well Really, as a matter of fact that is what the City Council was told by the Fire Department.  The money is coming from a fund they have that was given to them from an estate.  So the answer to your question is yes I have done my research.  I attend most of the council meetings and listen to the business unlike most of the people who just sit around and complain without any participation.

Get your facts strait DAMNED!!:  If this is really your name, it must be difficult signing checks! Is there anything in your post you actually researched? Or is it all just what you were told by someones brother that knows someones sister that knows someone on the fire dept.?

Get your facts strait DAMNED!!:
The Fire Department will not be "coming up with the money on their own." They were given some money from an estate is what I was told by one of the high rankers and a small portion of that money is what is going to pay for the upper floor.  There was never an upper floor in the ballot anyway and it is yet another luxury for the WVFD that runs 200 calls a year.  You need to do some research before throwing out random assumptions that you come up with.  Not only that but lets talk about the fact the WVFD wants to have another bar in the upper floor of the building.  There is no reason there should be a bar in a fire hall.

After reading your posts about how bad the "Ambulance Man" is I would hope those guys never find out who you are because you just may need them some day.  Oh I am sure they will never find out who you are because you just hide on here and use random names to bash.
