If I remember right from the Banner discusion, a consulting group called this one looks like they were right.

Who Said What:
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but was it the outgoing commissioner Joe Reichart who made the political promises about the nursing home? Or was it the incoming commissioner? Who signed the CONTRACT? Oh, there is no contract? Well that seems kind of stupid, now doesn't it? It's easy to make promises if you're not going to be around to make them happen. And without something signed in writing we have nothing more then more political posturing by the boards, and more political hot air. Someone keep track of this timeline they came up with. Should make for some good laughs.

tax tip:
Don't get "fed up" so soon.  We have a long time until we are out of this mess!  I think Banner needs to anty up a little bit on this nursing home delima. Seems like a good business needs to spend some money to make money. The monies from the new 1% are already designated.  Where will the money come from for the nursing home? I don't recall hearing of any abounding county surplus. I think we spend about as fast/faster than it comes in.  But at least we have a new fire hall that we needed like a hole in the head.

Fed Up:
Ok Banner the Magnificent, we get it. You are all good and powerful and will help us and we need you and golly you are such good people with pure hearts and brilliant brains and we are lucky to have you near and we bow to you and we'll honor you and grovel and willingly pay your fantastic salaries and excellent benefit packages while we try to keep paying our grocery bills to keep our health bills up to date so nothing bad shakes your wonderful hospital world. Now can we please just get over it? On Jan. 1 we'll start paying for the new Fire Hall, and then pretty soon after we'll start paying to get the nursing home up and in sparkly condition for you so you can make money on that to because we sure wouldn't want to make a ding in your profit margin. We honor, we grovel, we pay and we obey. Long live the mighty Banner and the Hospital District Board and Commisshioner Board and County Attorney who voted you to stay and saddled the rest of us with the problem of how to pay for it.

an employee:
Say what you want about the employees but we wil be here when you have your heart attack or when you need medical help. We pride ourselves in putting the patients and residents first. Even though we are talked down to we will still be here when you need us no questions asked.

know it all john:
By not going with Banner this county could be like Sweetwater county, refuse any HMO consideration , have all of the Dr's build their own little clinics and end up 15 million in the hole. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth and give praise to the Banner employees.

could have had:
Could have had a 1.5million head start on that new nursing home that will probably be voted in a couple of years from now. Oh wait! I forgot we needed a new fire hall. Spend, spend, spend people just dont get it. Merry Christmas.

Cross Ped Xing:
So Banner stays, and all the great Banner employees get to keep their great jobs and oh wait the not very great PC Board of commissioners gets the final decision? Weren't they the ones who ignited this by ignoring the wolf at the door? You gotta love Wheatland. They never learn. Should be lots of fodder for Wheaterville News. By the way Wheaterville, this is a nice new comment section. Great work.

Common sense:
Take the emotion out of the conversation.  It is fairly simple.  If the nursing home is not viable on its own and needs to be subsidized by tax payers we need to know the price tag.  How much needs to be infused annually to operate it at currrent occupancy?

Then we can decide is it worth it.

The great nursing home bailout!

Perhaps a bailout is a wise investment.  Perhaps not.
