I'm not sure I want to donate money to a supposed non-profit that appears to be hoarding cash. I'd rather hoard the cash in my own mattress. Or donate to an organization that puts the money to work.

I see once again the Glendo ambulance service has their hand out for their annual fund raiser. I think if anybody just looks around and looks at all the smoke in the air all summer I think they could think of other organizations or displaced fire victims that could use the donations more. Didn't they just a receive a big donation from an estate anyway? Are they really a non-profit?

most excellent observation. the governor should ban sales of fireworks. He should do a lot of things, but he won't. Hopefully "someone" has a camera up at Howard's and takes pix of the people buying, or at least their license plates. That's how they caught the Glendo arsonists. Oh those smartphones are smart, way smarter then the people buying fireworks. You know who you are and so do I. Waiting for you to mess up. Don't wait for gov Mead to ever ever ever put his cowboy boot down. It might get dirty.

Why has Gov Mead not banned the sale of fireworks? Could it be that one of the biggest retailers of fireworks at least in this area, is not only the owner of Howard's but also is Gov Mead's chief of staff, I believe that's her title. Something to think about at election time.

The council has to approve a permit for Howard's and Crazy Cowboy's to sell fireworks. Why are they not suspending that permit in light of current conditions? I would suppose this means that if anyone gets burned out of their house because of fireworks, then the Glendo Town Council, Howard's and Crazy Cowboy's will be responsible for paying for and supplying alternate housing / rebuilding.

won't have to worry about stupid pills in the water supply much longer since there will soon be no water supply, but I'm many in platte county will find other ways to get their stupid fix.. was pleased to drive by WMS yesterday and see eight automated sprinklers running.  remember folks don't run your water since the town of Wheatland is almost bone dry unless you are a city maintained facility that has to have its lawn green all summer (especially the vacant schools).  The city has banned all fireworks and the fire works display to how the dryness, I definitely hope watering the schools every day for several hours will help the drought!

I was just going by Howard's in Glendo. I saw a Colorado car out by the fireworks building and  what looked like a clerk letting them in to buy fireworks. The first thing that came to mind was: Do they put stupid pills in the drinking water in Glendo or what? Because of the continuing drought , there is no where to legally shoot off fireworks. So why is Howards and Crazy Cowboys still allowed to sell them? Yes it was someone from Colorado that probably doesn't care if they start a wildland fire or burn someone's house down, but it was a Wyoming business owner that doesn't care if someone starts a fire either. So much truth to the saying 'commom sense is so uncommon', that applies Wyomingites to.

How is the fire dept robbing the nursing home? Its my understanding that bond is just about paid off. That's why there's a new campaign to continue the sales tax on different projects.

when will the citizens learn the county is a fraud.  the schools produce selfish degenerates, the educators are consistent alcoholics, the fire department is robbing the nursing home, the doctors are overpaid and underqualified, the town government does nothing but waste waste waste, when the state goes broke from the coal/gas bust that's coming soon Wheaterville is gonna be hit first because of it's God Awful management and mentality.

The town may not be donating actual dollars to any particular business but, the community encompasses more then just the bars downtown. Just what type of community are you trying to build when you have kids games right near the bars? That's what the town park should be used for. If I remember a bar owner originally started Glendo Days, but at that time it was all over town. When the mayor is also a bartender at one of the bars and is dictating where everything is, the hint of impropriety is sure there!

First off, the town is not sponsoring any private enterprise. The 5/10 K Walk/Run is sponsored by the Marge Cares Foundation. The town only approved an application to WYDOT for a Special Event Permit. Marge Cares submitted the permit. As for the activities being downtown, Glendo Days began downtown as a community building event. We hope all local businesses will benefit from the event, but in no way does the the town donate money to private entities.

Is't it illegal for a town government to do fundraising for a private enterprise? Should the state attorney generals office be notified?

Just where are the Glendo town council priorities? They are insisting have childrens game in downtown so everything is in front of the bars. Are the bars not doing well? Do they think they need to teach children to drink at an early age to insure future cutomers? Glendo Days surely is not a family event it would seem. Why can't childrens game be at the town park where they belong?

With no snowmelt, no rain the lake will be drained for Nebraska's water needs. Nebraska wastes water like it's going out of style. It is time to turn off the Tap.

Sounds like the Happy Ambulance Users (HAU's) which appears to be  just a synonym for EMT, are comparing themselves to the rest of the services in Platte and Converse Cty. I know the ambulance's EWAS and Douglas have are kept spotless inside and out. The difference is they are professional ambulance services, Glendo used to be.

This not only shows no pride in a fairly new ambulance, But a lack of respect for the taxpayers whose taxes went to pay for it.
